Sliding

The sliding design is activated by default in the geotechnical design configuration. The theoretical background of the sliding design can be found in Chapter Theoretical Principles.

Sliding Resistance

If you want to perform the sliding design, you need to assign a corresponding load combination to each ULS load combination. You can do this in the Load Cases and Combinations tab.
This assignment is necessary to calculate the shear resistance correctly. With a partial safety factor of 1, the characteristic loads of the SLS combinations are considered equivalent to the design loads (V'k = V'd). Without this assignment, the shear resistance cannot be determined correctly.

Tip

If you have activated the combination wizard, the characteristic load combination is assigned automatically.

Passive Earth Pressure

For the design checks of concrete foundations, the default setting is that passive earth pressure is not taken into account in the sliding design. If you want to consider passive earth pressure, activate the Consider passive earth pressure option in the geotechnical analysis configuration.

After activating the passive earth pressure, you can define the parameters of the forces that can be absorbed on the individual foundation sides.

Resistance Limit for Undrained Clay Subgrade

If it is necessary to reduce the sliding resistance according to 6.5.3(12), you can activate the option Consider resistance limit according to 6.5.3(12) for undrained clay subgrade in the geotechnical design configuration.
