Creating single foundation
In the Navigator, in the category Types for Foundations, you have the option to create single foundations. When you create a new foundation, the dialog box New Single Foundation opens.
The single foundation must be assigned to a nodal support. You can select the nodal support manually or determine it graphically in the work window using the
button.
It is also possible to define the single foundation via the dialog box of the nodal support. Open the Edit Nodal Support dialog of the corresponding nodal support. In the Options section, check the Foundation check box. The new Foundation tab appears. There, you can assign a foundation or redefine it.
Alternatively, you can also assign the single foundation to a nodal support in the Structure table under Types for Foundations.
Rotation of foundation via nodal support
The rotation of a foundation about the Z-axis is carried out via the local coordinate system of the associated nodal support. For this, a user-defined local coordinate system must be created and assigned to the nodal support. The foundation adopts the orientation of this local coordinate system. A direct rotation of the foundation is not provided for. A prerequisite for the application is that the local Z-axis of the nodal support runs parallel to the global Z-axis.
The orientation of the column has no influence on the alignment of the foundation. A rotation of the column about the global Z-axis can be carried out independently of the foundation and is not strictly necessary for the design of the foundation, although an alignment of the column parallel to the global Z-axis is a prerequisite for the use of foundations.
Another option is offered by the nodal support assigned to the node. Open the Edit Nodal Support dialog and switch to the Base tab. There, in the Options section, activate the Specific Direction... check box. This will display the Specific Direction tab in the tab bar.
Switch to the Specific Direction tab. Select the Rotated via 3 Angles option as the Direction type and set the sequence to XYZ. Then enter the desired rotation angle in the corresponding angle field. In the example shown, the foundation is rotated by −60° about the global Z-axis (αZ = −60.00°).
The rotation is immediately visible in the graphic preview.
Specifying foundation type
The list in the Type section offers various foundation types for selection.
