9.5 Result Diagrams

The result diagram makes it possible to see the result distribution of objects in detail:

    • Section
    • Member
    • Set of members
    • Line
    • Line support

Select the object(s) in the work window (multiple selection by holding down the [Ctrl] key). Then, select the menu option

  • Results → Result Diagrams for Selected Sections/Members/Sets of Members/Lines/Line Supports

or use the shortcut menu of the corresponding object. For members and sets of members, the toolbar button shown on the left is also available.

A new window opens, showing the result diagrams of the selected object.

The Results navigator on the left manages the deformations, internal forces, stresses, strains, or support forces that appear in the result diagram. Use the list in the toolbar to select a particular load case, load combination, or result combination.

In the result diagrams for members, the numbers of the selected members are listed in the upper left corner of the window. You can also enter member numbers into the Member No. text box manually. That way you can extend, reduce, or completely reorganize the selection.

When you move the mouse along the line or member selected in the result diagram, you can see the "moving" result values for the current x-location. The location x is related to the line or member start and is indicated in the upper right corner of the window. It is also possible to manually enter a specific location x into the text box. The Fixed check box pins the pointer to the indicated location.

In the right window section, the result values are listed numerically. These values represent the results for the edge nodes as well as for the locations of the extreme values and the division points. The latter correspond to the FE mesh nodes or member divisions according to specifications set in the Global Calculation Parameters tab of the Calculation Parameters dialog box (see Figure 7.27). When lines separate two surfaces from each other, the window shows the surface results of both sides.

Note

You can save the user-defined settings in the navigator for deformations or internal forces as default settings. There is a corresponding option in the navigator shortcut menu. This function is described in the following article:

The buttons in the User operations toolbar, in particular the smoothing options for support forces, lines, or sections, help you to evaluate results for civil engineering purposes.

Use the [Result Diagram Settings] button to open a dialog box that provides several options for adjusting the Result Diagram window.
