Display Properties
The display properties determine how a graphical object is displayed on the screen and in the printout. The Display navigator allows you to control if an object is displayed (see Chapter 3.4.3).
To open the dialog box for adjusting the graphical display, use the menu item
- Options → Display Properties → Edit
or the configuration manager (see Chapter 3.4.10).
It is also possible to directly access the display properties of each graphical object (model, load, or result symbol): Right-click the object to open its shortcut menu. Select Display Properties to directly adjust the object's display parameters in the Display Properties dialog box (see Figure 11.3).
Note
The settings for the display on the Screen and for the Printout Report are managed in two dialog tabs. Thus, it is possible to define adjustments separately for the monitor graphic (e.g. size of support symbols with black background) and for the printout.
Use the Identical Settings for screen and printout report check box to synchronize the display properties for the screen and printout report: If it is selected, the subsequently defined settings are also carried out in the other dialog tab (Screen or Printout Report) of the current category. Already defined settings cannot be transferred retroactively with this function.
The Category navigator lists the graphical objects in a directory tree. To change the display properties of an object, select the relevant entry. Then, adjust the object-specific display parameters in the dialog section to the right: color, line display, size in work window, type and arrangement of numbering, font, size of load vector, etc.
RFEM additionally provides [Details] buttons for some parameters (see Figure 11.4).
The buttons are used to open a new dialog box where you can, for example, scale the distance or size of the object to the dimensions of the total structure.
The buttons below the parameters have the following functions:

For objects that are relevant for lines and members, you can arrange the description or symbol with user-defined settings. A dialog box opens where you can define the information's position by means of a relative distance from the line or member start (see Figure 11.5).
The Display Properties dialog box allows you to adjust the display configuration to the given requirements. It is thus possible, for example, to create different settings for the screen with a colored background and for the plotter with specific settings.
However, the modifications cannot be saved in the Display Properties dialog box. The Configuration Manager described in Chapter 3.4.10 is responsible for managing display configurations.
Therefore, use the following procedure when you want to create a new display profile based on your modifications:
- Confirm the modifications in the Display Properties dialog box with [OK].
- Open the Configuration Manager (see Chapter 3.4.10).
- Create a [New] configuration.
- Enter a description in the New Configuration dialog box and confirm with [OK].
