In June 2013, one of the world's highest timber lookout structures opened on the Pyramidenkogel, a mountain in Carinthia, Austria. The tower, including the spire, is 328 ft high. It has four accessible viewing platforms, one closed and three open, offering a breathtaking view over the Alps-Adriatic region and the lakes of Carinthia.
As the geothermal energy market is continuously increasing, BAUER Maschinen GmbH, a German company working in the field of specialist foundation engineering, has developed a new deep drilling rig. Dlubal Software's German customer Ing.-Büro H.-U. Möller was in charge of the plant's structural analysis. The system is used to make borings reaching to a depth of 22,965 ft in the area of geothermal energy, oil, or gas.
Dlubal customer Maderas Besteiro is a third-generation family-owned company focusing on timber-based construction and manufacturing. The company's driving value of providing socially and environmentally sustainable houses to the local community has shown itself once again.
Due to new technological demands, the investor Melamin d.d. Kočevje decided to replace the old steam boiler using fossil fuel (Đuro Đakovič, No. 5356) with a new one with total power of 9.8 MW.
An impressive roof structure was constructed over the Passion Play open-air theater in Sömmersdorf, Franconia (Germany). The self-supporting spatial steel structure includes a PVC membrane roof covering the 14,908 ft² auditorium. Only four foundations in total support the entire roof structure.
During the Antarctic summer months of 2010/2011 and 2011/12, a new research station was built in East Antarctica for the Indian Ministry for Earth Sciences. The design and planning came from the German offices of bof architekten and IMS Ingenieurgesellschaft in Hamburg, Germany.
The complex structural system consists of an enveloping steel structure and a total of 134 special containers integrated to transfer vertical and horizontal loads. The final structural analysis was carried out by the German engineering office of KSF in Bremerhaven.
Skywalk Allgäu is a path with a length of about 1,640 ft, installed at a height of 49 to 98 ft above ground, leading through the treetops of the Allgäu Alps. The path construction, built at approximately 3,281 ft above sea level, consists of cable-stayed and suspension bridge constructions. It is supported by 14 towers guyed with cables. The central point and major tourist attraction is the lookout tower, which is 164 ft high, offering visitors a wonderful view over the Alps, the Prealps, and Lake Constance.
The project for designing a filter/dryer device, including agitator, required a complete stress and deformation analysis in RFEM. The complex modeling of the structure, which had 1,424 surfaces, 158 solids, and 425 members, represented a special design challenge.
A unique structure called Sky Walk was built in Dolní Morava, Czech Republic, under Králický Sněžník Mountain at a height of 3,661.4 ft; it is unprecedented in Central Europe.
Sky Walk is a lookout trail leading up to 192 ft above the surrounding hilly terrain level. It is visible at a distance of several miles. The architectural design was created by famous Czech architect Zdeněk Fránek. The Czech company TAROS‑NOVA s.r.o., a customer of Dlubal Software, was responsible for the structural engineering and construction.
A unique roof structure covering the bus station was built in the Swiss town of Aarau at the end of 2013. The canopy has a cloud-like shape and contains the largest single-chamber cushion in the world. It has a volume of 63,920 ft3 and a roofed area of 11,517 ft2.
In October 2011, the sailing ship "Alexander von Humboldt II" started service and has been conquering the seas ever since. The ship, operated by the German Sail Training Foundation (DSST), is a barque rigged with three masts. The masts and hull consist of steel.
An extraordinary new outdoor theatre opened in Bytom, Poland in August 2014. From a structural engineering point of view, the building consists of two parts (a theater stage and a backstage) geometrically interconnected by a spatial-shaped roof. This gives the structure its remarkable design.
Under Canvas began in 2009 with the opening of an all-inclusive glamping adventure package. It has since grown to include eight luxury glamping resorts and a customized event offering, bringing the glamping experience to life everywhere in the country.
The new headquarters of the Baden Farmers' Association (BLHV) is unique. The timber construction is protected by a glass facade to counteract graying caused by weather conditions. Although the architects of Werkgruppe Lahr have sufficient experience in timber construction, the wooden house with glass cladding has been a "model project" for them.
Nexans Solar Technologies is an internal branch of Nexans, created in 2018 as part of the transition plan towards renewable energies, which aims at providing solutions, products, and services to energy producers and investors.
The solar tracker from KEYLIOS® is the first solution entirely conducted by Nexans Solar Technologies, from design to manufacturing. A major contract had already been signed with a prominent developer of photovoltaic projects and an energy supplier providing more than 800 of these solar trackers to be established on four solar facilities located in the southwest of France.
