This manual describes the Steel Design add-on for the programs RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9. Since the input and functions of the add-on are identical in both programs, the description only refers to RFEM. However, the explanations also apply to RSTAB.
Activating Add-on
You can activate or deactivate the design add-on in the Add-ons tab of the model's Base Data.
A green dot in front of the add-on description indicates that a license is available in the currently selected license configuration. An orange or blue dot indicates that the use of the add-on is only available in demo mode or as part of the trial version, and the range of functions is limited.
Specifying Standard
In the Standards I tab of the model's Base Data, you can select a standard and a National Annex or an edition that will be used for the steel design (see also the chapter Standards I of the RFEM manual). The input dialog boxes of Steel Design are automatically adjusted to this standard.
The currently available design standards can be found in the product description of Steel Design.
Program User Interface
After activating the add-on and selecting the design standards, the user interface in RFEM is extended by some new entries in the navigator, tables, and dialog boxes. The parameters of the steel design are thus fully integrated into the program. This activates the design properties for all members and member sets that use a material of the Steel type.
