Objects to Design

In the table Objects to Design, all object types present in the model that are relevant for timber design are listed:

  • Members
  • Member sets
  • Member representatives
  • Member set representatives
  • Surfaces (RFEM only)
  • Surfaces | Coupled surfaces (RFEM only)
  • Surface sets (RFEM only)
  • Surface sets | Coupled surfaces (RFEM only)

Objects to Design

The check box in the 'Design all' column makes it possible to quickly select all available objects for design. This locks the input option in the 'Selected objects' column. The numbers of all objects of the object type are entered there automatically, for example all members or all surfaces.

However, you can also define manually which objects are to be designed: Disable the 'Design all' check box and then enter the numbers of the relevant objects in the 'Selected objects' column. You can also select the objects graphically using the Single Selection button at the end of the cell.

Remove Objects from Design

If you want to exclude a (valid) object from design, enter its number in the 'Removed from design' column. The entries in the 'To be designed' column are reduced accordingly.

Important

If you have manually removed objects from design or not selected them for design, no warning message appears for these objects in the result tables.

Invalid / Deactivated Objects

The 'To be designed' and 'Invalid / deactivated' columns are usually filled automatically. Thus, all objects with properties that are not suitable for timber design are detected and deactivated for design. These include, for example, steel or concrete members, members with a thin-walled cross-section, or surfaces with variable thickness. Likewise, all members and surfaces that are designed as a member set or surface set are deactivated (see Chapter Member Sets and Surface Sets).

Info

With the default setting 'Design all', only all valid objects are checked. Invalid objects such as steel members are automatically deactivated during timber design.
