Calculation and Design Method of Rolled Girders in Concrete (WiB)

Regarding the large number of railway bridges in the rail network of the German DB company, a large part is supported on columns of less than 30 m. Thus, those small bridge structures form the basis of the engineering works that can be found in the German railway system.

Nowadays, the construction method of the rolled girders in concrete (WiB, Walzträger in Beton) is mainly applied in special cases of the railway bridge construction, for example, in inner-city areas. Due to its type of construction, the method is well suited for the bridges with restricted or very small building height, but also for the construction projects concerning highly frequented traffic facilities.
