Member Elastic Foundation

Whereas a nodal support allows for a support at both member ends, a member elastic foundation makes it possible to have an elastic support of a member in the entire length of it.

This way, you can model beams with an elastic foundation by considering soil properties, for example. If the foundation is not effective under tensile or compressive stress, nonlinear effects can be considered in the calculation.

Info

In RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9, member elastic foundations are referred to as member support.
