Structural Model

A structural model is a model of the structure related to the system lines, containing information about the essential load-bearing elements. It is used to idealize an original physical 3D architectural model with the aim and purpose of ensuring the structural design of the building, including its stability and safety.

Simple examples of structural models are:

  • Single-span beam
  • Cantilever
  • Continuous beam

The structural model is modeled in the form of one-dimensional (members), two-dimensional (surfaces), or three-dimensional (volumes) components. Furthermore, in a structural model, the identification of supports (point supports, line supports, area supports) is essential for load transfer.
