Supercombination

A supercombination is a combination option using the SUPER-RC add-on module of the RSTAB 8 program generation. This allows you to superimpose the load case results of different construction stages of a model. Behind this analysis is the general superposition principle: Identical physical quantities are combined with a linear relation between the action and the superimposed quantity.

To visualize the results, a supercombination extends the superposition principle in the area of technical mechanics to construction stages. In structural mechanics, a construction stage is a static structure with a definite configuration of structural elements. If this configuration of the supporting elements in the supporting structure (angle, length, shape) is changeable, the construction stage is present. For these cases, a supercombination superimposes the linear-elastically determined results of the different construction stages with different supporting element configurations and displays them as an envelope on a model with any configuration.

Typical Application Areas

  • Photovoltaic systems with hydraulic module orientation
  • Beam models with temporary support elements during the assembly

Entering in RSTAB 8

Supercombinations are managed in the Data navigator of RSTAB 8 under the category "Load Cases and Combinations" → "Super Combinations". The supercombination can be created using the load situations from several model files of a similar structure that has different configurations.

Info

In the program generations RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9, construction stages can be analyzed using the Construction Stages Analysis (CSA) add-on.
