What is a cross-section?

When creating a cross-section, all properties necessary for a structural analysis are defined: surface, moment of intertia, section modulus (see Image 01). A distinction is made between various cross‑section types, such as rolled section, rectangular cross-section, or composite cross-section.

A cross-section has to be assigned to each member in RFEM and RSTAB. Many cross-sections are already stored in the library and can be selected there (see Image 02).
