A member eccentricity allows you to connect a member eccentrically by means of specific member end sections.
Since a member length corresponds to the distance between both end nodes in RFEM or RSTAB, the model is displayed only partially realistic for cross-section connections or downstand beams. In such cases, member eccentricities can be used to connect members eccentrically by means of specific member end sections. For a frame, for example, the design moments on horizontal beams are thus reduced.
In the program, the member eccentricities are taken into account by a transformation of the degrees of freedom in the local element stiffness matrix.
