A punching node is a node at which the punching shear verification is carried out or at which a punching shear problem generally exists, such as at the connection of a column to a reinforced concrete slab in a building structure.
The verification of punching shear, or respectively the punching shear resistance, can, for example, be carried out in accordance with EN 1992-1-1, 6.4. In this case, the verification of the punching shear resistance without punching shear reinforcement (6.4.4) or with punching shear reinforcement (6.4.5) is performed at this node.
Depending on the geometry of the punching node, a verification is carried out either at a column or at a wall corner or wall end.
