Considering Initial State

For a load case of the analysis type ' Modal Analysis ', you can define another load case whose stiffnesses represent the starting point for the dynamic analysis. To do this, activate the Consider initial state check box and then select the load case from the list.

The Edit button to the right of the list calls up the 'Initial State Settings' dialog (see image Define the type of initial state ). Define the type of initial state there (currently only the type 'Stiffness' available).

With this option, you can, for example, determine the stiffness of the model if tension members fail in a load case. The stiffness from this load case - that is, the "residual model" without failed tension members - is then used in the modal analysis. The softer system has a corresponding effect on the eigenvalues.

The function 'consider initial state' is in the chapter Load cases of the RFEM manual are generally described for load cases.
