Calculation parameters

The Calculation Parameters dialog tab is only available for the 'Linear Implicit Newmark Analysis' analysis type. Here, you can define the mass matrix and the directions of the acting masses. In the case of a linear modal analysis, the settings for the acting masses and the mass matrix are taken from the assigned Modal Analysis Load Case .

Mass Matrix Settings

The following types of mass matrices are available for selection in the list:

  • Diagonal
  • Consistent
  • Unit

The individual types are described in Chapter Modal Analysis Settings chapter.

The six check boxes control in which direction or about which axes the masses act when determining the eigenvalues. The masses can act in the global displacement directions X, Y, or Z, and rotate about the X, Y, and Z axes. Select the corresponding check boxes. At least one direction or axis must be activated for the eigenvalues to be calculated.

Use the six check boxes to define the global directions in or about the global axes of the masses. These settings change the mass matrix.

Options

In this dialog section, you can enter settings for the 'mass conversion type' or 'Neglect masses'. The corresponding options are also described in the Modal Analysis Settings chapter.
