Bucket Reinforcement

This chapter explains how to enter the reinforcement for bucket foundations. Two variants of horizontal reinforcement are described: bucket reinforcement with enclosing stirrups and with individual stirrups for each side. Furthermore, the entry of vertical reinforcement in the x- and y-direction is explained.

Horizontal Stirrups

There are two possible arrangements for horizontal stirrups:

  • Stirrups that enclose the column
  • Stirrups that lie completely within a bucket wall

The arrangement type is selected in the Reinforcement tab

Bucket Reinforcement with Enclosing Stirrups

The image shows a top view of a bucket with reinforcement enclosing the column. The horizontal stirrup reinforcement is characterized by three different stirrup groups:

Color Stirrup
Yellow Top stirrup group with legs outside on all sides
Cyan Top stirrup group with legs outside in the x-direction
Green Top stirrup group with legs outside in the y-direction

The blue and red stirrups represent the vertical reinforcement.

Bucket Reinforcement with Individual Stirrups for Each Side

The image shows a top view of a bucket with individual stirrups for each bucket wall. The horizontal stirrup reinforcement is divided into two different stirrup groups:

Color Stirrup
Green Top stirrup group with legs outside in the x-direction
Cyan Top stirrup group with legs outside in the y-direction

Vertical Stirrups

Regardless of whether the stirrups enclose the column or run in the column walls, the vertical reinforcement remains identical in both cases. The vertical stirrup reinforcement consists of:

Color Stirrups
Red Vertical stirrup group for the shear wall reinforcement in the x-direction
Blue Vertical stirrup group for the shear wall reinforcement in the y-direction

Reinforcement Input

The horizontal and vertical stirrups are entered in the tab for the bucket reinforcement. In the case of the bucket reinforcement with enclosing stirrups, it is necessary to arrange three stirrup groups (external stirrups and stirrups in the x- and y-direction).
The stirrups in the x- and y-direction can be either identical or different. However, if you select a bucket reinforcement with individual stirrups for each side, it is necessary to enter the corresponding two stirrup groups.
Next, it is necessary to specify the vertical stirrups in the x- and y-direction.
