Concrete cover

In the Concrete cover tab, you define the concrete cover for a reinforced stepped foundation.

Options

Use the check boxes in the Options section to control how the concrete cover is determined:

  • User-defined: Activate this check box to enter the nominal concrete cover cnom manually for all sides, independent of the standard. If the check box is cleared, the concrete cover is determined by the program.
  • Different on cross-section sides: Select this check box if you want to define different exposure classes and minimum concrete covers for the top side of the plate, bottom side of the plate, and plate side. This applies to both the user-defined input and the automatic determination. If the check box is not activated, the same concrete cover is applied to all sides.

Concrete Durability

In this section, you assign an exposure class to each foundation side. The exposure classes form the basis for the standard-based determination of the minimum concrete cover. Top side of plate: Exposure class of the top side of the foundation body Bottom side of plate: Exposure class of the bottom side of the foundation body (contact surface to subsoil) Plate side: Exposure class of the lateral surfaces of the foundation body

You can select the exposure classes in the lists or manage them via the buttons New - Modification - Selection to the right.

Minimum Concrete Cover according to Standard

The values in this area display the standard-based nominal concrete cover cnom for each foundation side. The results depend on the selected exposure class and the design standard. Top side of plate: Nominal concrete cover on the top side cnom,(top) Bottom side of plate: Nominal concrete cover on the bottom side cnom,(bottom) Plate side: Nominal concrete cover on the lateral surfaces cnom,(side)

The graphic on the right illustrates the positions of the three concrete cover dimensions on the foundation cross-section.
