Reinforcement on Surfaces

The result tables of the Reinforcement on Surfaces category list the required reinforcement cross-sections that result from the internal forces of the ultimate limit state design situation. If the longitudinal reinforcement has been increased automatically to fulfill the serviceability limit state design (see Chapter Basic Settings ) or to avoid shear reinforcement (see Chapter Surfaces ), these reinforcement cross-sections are also taken into account. In the same way, the minimum reinforcement according to the standard is covered if you have activated the corresponding option (see Chapter Surfaces ). The extreme values of each reinforcement type are marked with colored dots in the rows.

The available reinforcement cross-sections as well as the uncovered reinforcement are specified in further tables.

The surface results are sorted in the tabs according to the following criteria:

  • Objects (FE mesh points, surfaces)
  • Surface properties (thicknesses, materials)

Surface No.

For each extreme value of the reinforcement, the number of the governing surface is shown.

Mesh Node / Element No.

This column shows the number of the FE mesh node for which the program has determined the maximum design ratio.

Info

If you have specified "Calculate results in grid raster" option in the Global Settings , the numbers of the grid points are shown in this column. The results then refer to the surface grid.

Mesh Node Coordinates

The global coordinates X, Y, and Z of the FE mesh nodes are shown in three columns.

Design Situation

This column shows the numbers of the design situations with the individual reinforcement available.

Loading

This column shows the numbers of the load or result combinations that are governing for the respective reinforcements.

Longitudinal Reinforcement

The following results are displayed for the longitudinal reinforcement:

Reinforcement Description
as,1,-z (top) Cross-section of the top longitudinal reinforcement due to membrane forces and bending moments in Reinforcement Direction 1
as,2,-z (top) Cross-section of the top longitudinal reinforcement due to membrane forces and bending moments in Reinforcement Direction 2
as,1,-z (bottom) Cross-section of the bottom longitudinal reinforcement due to membrane forces and bending moments in Reinforcement Direction 1
as,2,-z (bottom) Cross-section of the bottom longitudinal reinforcement due to membrane forces and bending moments in Reinforcement Direction 2

The top and bottom reinforcement applies according to the assignment that you have defined for each surface reinforcement type. The reinforcement directions are assigned to the surfaces in the Concrete Design Properties.

Info

If the local z-axis is oriented downwards in the Base Data , the top reinforcement is on the surface side in the direction of the negative z-axis (−z), and the bottom reinforcement is accordingly in the direction of the positive z-axis (+z). If the local z-axis is oriented upwards, this definition is reversed.

Stirrup Reinforcement

There is only one result type displayed for the stirrup reinforcement:

Reinforcement Description
asw Cross-section of the shear reinforcement for the shear force, in relation to the unit length of 1 m
Tip

Use the Result Table Manager to specify which columns should be displayed in each table.
