Concrete Material Type
The materials for concrete and reinforcing steel should be taken from the material library according to the standard selected for the design in the “Concrete Design” add-on.
For concrete materials, a further distinction is made between the subtypes “Concrete” and “Lightweight concrete.” You can use this filter option in the RFEM or RSTAB material library.
The following series of images shows the material library filtered for concrete and reinforcing steel.
Material Model
Linear Elastic Material
The linear elastic material model is selected by default. Further information is provided in the chapter Materials of the RFEM manual.
Nonlinear Material
For the modeling of nonlinear material behavior, the Nonlinear Material Behavior analysis add-on is necessary (a license is required).
If you activate the Nonlinear Material Behavior add-on in the model's Base Data, the following material models are available:
- Anisotropic – Damage material model for reinforced concrete
- Isotropic | Plastic material model for reinforcing steel
- For unreinforced concrete, you can alternatively use the Isotropic | Damage material model.
