Considering Reinforcement

By default, consideration of reinforcement is not required for determining internal forces and deformations using finite element analysis. In the structural analysis, calculations are based on the concrete cross-section. The defined reinforcement is then included in the concrete design.

For a nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete members, it is necessary to include the reinforcement in the finite element analysis. To do this, you need to activate the reinforcement using a structure modification for reinforced concrete, as shown below.

Considering the reinforcement in the structural analysis means that the reinforcement weight is taken into account. Therefore, the nonlinear analysis includes the weight of the reinforcement in the self-weight, whereas the standard linear elastic analysis does not include the self-weight of the reinforcement.
