Split lines/elements

To split a line or an element, right-click the object. Then select one of the functions for Split Line or Split Element in the context menu.

Split by means of intermediate points

Use this function to divide the line or element into equal segments.

Number

Enter the 'number of intermediate points' n for the division. For example, as shown in the image above, the line is divided with two intermediate points in its third points.

Options

The check box 'Create points of the type on line without dividing the line' is deactivated by default. When you split the line, new lines are created. If you check the checkbox, the line as a whole is retained. In this case, the division is made by intermediate points of the type 'Points on line' (see chapter # extbookmark manual|PointType_OnLine|Points #).

If you tick the 'Individual numbering' check box, you can influence the numbering of new generated objects in the Numbering tab.

Numbering

The Numbering tab is displayed if the Individual numbering check box is selected in the 'Main' tab.

In the 'Individually' table column, select the object to which you want to assign a specific numbering. Then, in the 'First No.' column, you can specify the start number for the new objects. Further objects of this category are numbered in ascending order from this number.

Dividing at a distance

Use this function to divide the line or element at a specific point.

Distance between the new point and the start or end of the line

Specify the distance from the start or end point to split the line or element. You can enter the value as a length or relative specification. The four input fields are interactive.

If the distance refers to a projected length, specify the projection in the 'Reference Length' dialog section.

Info

The line or element direction is decisive for the division distance. It is displayed on the selected object.

Reference Length

Most of the time, the pitch refers to the 'true length' of the line or element. If not, select the relevant 'projection in the' direction of an axis of the specified coordinate system. Then, you can enter the corresponding division entries in the 'Distance' dialog section.

Options

The check box 'Create points on line without dividing the line' controls whether new objects are created when dividing the line (see section options options ).

If you tick the 'Individual numbering' check box, you can influence the numbering of new generated objects (see the Numbering tab).
