Design Situations

The design situations in RFEM allow for the control of the combination rules to be applied for generating load and result combinations according to the limit states for the selected standard. Furthermore, manually created load and result combinations can be assigned to the limit states.

The “Different Materials” option is provided for the design situations. Among other things, this option allows for different materials or material models and stress-strain diagrams to be applied, depending on the limit state or design situation. One application for this can be the nonlinear analysis of concrete. The following series of images shows how to activate “Different materials” for design situations and how to assign the material to be used.

In the further use of actions in concrete design, the design situation of the action is assigned to the design situation type of the design. Further information is provided in the chapter Design Situations of Design Specifications.
