Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

Material Type Fiber Concrete

The materials for steel fiber-reinforced concrete and reinforcing steel should be taken from the material library according to the standard selected for design in the “Concrete Design” add-on.

The concretes and lightweight concretes are designated with the suffix “L1/L2,” which stands for Performance Class 1 and Performance Class 2.

The performance classes L1 and L2 are initially preset with the values 1.20 and 0.90, respectively. To adjust these performance classes, a “user-defined material” can be activated in the “Main” tab of the material under “Options.”

Info

For optimal definition of the further design properties later on, it is recommended to have created the fiber-reinforced concrete and the reinforcing steel before starting further modeling.

Material Model

Linear Elastic Material

The linear elastic material model is selected by default. Further information is provided in the chapter Materials of the RFEM manual.

Nonlinear Material

The Nonlinear Material Behavior add-on (a license is required) is necessary for modeling of nonlinear material behavior.

If the Nonlinear Material Behavior add-on is activated in the model's Base Data, the

  • Isotropic | Damage material model is available for pure fiber concrete.
  • Reinforced fiber-reinforced concrete can be modeled with the Anisotropic – Damage material model, and
  • Reinforcing steel can be modeled with the Isotropic | Plastic material model.
