Surfaces can be quickly created by extruding lines. This function is available in the Tools → Extrude menu and in the line shortcut menu.
If a line has been selected, it is preset in the 'Line No.' section. If necessary, you can add further lines by clicking them in the work window. However, all lines in the list must lie in one plane.
As 'Surface parameters', you have to specify the stiffness type, thickness, and material of the new surface. In case of an offset, the surface is created at a lateral distance that refers to the direction of the extrusion. The side can be controlled by a positive or negative sign. Specify the length to define the dimension of the new surface.
If several lines are extruded with an offset, there are various options in the 'Outer Corners' section for adjusting the copied lines. This way, you can fill the resulting gaps.
Specify the global or local direction of the extrusion in the 'Extrude in Direction' section. For orientation, the local line axes are displayed on the model.
