Merging Lines/Members

The Merge Lines/Members function combines two adjoining lines or members into one object. The common node is removed. This makes the function suitable only for lines and members lying on a straight line. For kinked or curved distributions, the original objects are lost.

The Join Lines and Join Members functions in the Tools → Modify Lines or Modify Members menu allow you to merge lines or members that do not have a straight distribution. This way, you can combine, for example, several polylines or arcs into a single line. From the distribution of the original objects, the program creates a polyline or – in the case of a complex distribution – a line of the NURBS type. The lines or members do not have to lie in one plane.

You can also access the functions using the Connect lines or Connect Members buttons in the CAD toolbar (see image Modeling Tools).
