Extrude Surface

Spatial objects can be quickly created by extruding planar surfaces. This function is available in the Tools → Extrude menu as well as in the surface shortcut menu.

Tip

You do not need to select the surface(s) before calling the function.

The three options control which objects are created by the parallel displacement of the surface in space:

  • Solid: A 3D solid is created.
  • Shell: Only surfaces are generated that enclose the spatial body.
  • Members: Members are created on the connecting lines between the nodes and their copies. Optionally, the base surface is copied.

Depending on the setting, a new dialog box appears in which you can specify the parameters for extruding the surface. You can enter the height of the spatial object or define it graphically with the mouse.
